I started working at Bytek Volkswagen in June of 2016, but I’ve been a fan of the Volkswagen brand for a lot longer — close to 15 years to be exact. There’s an unexplainable feeling I get when getting behind the wheel of a Volkswagen that cannot compare to any other manufacturer.  Putting words to my Volkswagen enthusiasm would include: sharp handling, safety, reliability, great visibility, but most of all, it’s an absolute joy to drive. With that in mind, my favorite Volkswagen model would have to be the Golf lineup.

The 2017 Golf boasts a 1.8T TSI engine that delivers 170 HP and 184 lb-ft of Torque. Volkswagen offers a 5 Speed Manual Gearbox in the standard Golf or a 6 Speed Automatic Transmission with Tiptronic. It’s a truly tested and reliable engine that makes noticeable improvements from the older 1.8T engine.

The Golf comes equipped with standard features such as Bluetooth, Cruise Control, Heated Seats and a Rearview Camera in the Trendline model. As you go up in trim levels, you gain access to features such as Dual-Zone Climate Control, Leatherette/Leather Seats, and various electronic assists such as Park Assist, Lane Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

The Golf comes in a wagon form as well, dubbed the Golf Sportwagen. The Sportwagen takes the Golf and stretches it, making the trunk space significantly larger. Families who need the trunk space but don’t want an SUV platform will love the Sportwagen.

If the 1.8T 170 HP engine is not enough for you, Volkswagen does offer the GTI, which packs 210 HP for the more driver centrist clientele. Or if you want a fully equipped vehicle with a thundering 2.0T engine that delivers 292 BHP to the wheel, Volkswagen offers the Golf R as well. These two vehicles boast a 6 Speed Manual Transmission as well as an option for a DSG Transmission.

Renowned automotive journalist James May was right when he said “there’s a Golf for everyone”. For families who have to haul kids and hockey equipment every Saturday morning, there’s the 2017 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen. For driving enthusiasts who like speed and sharp handling, there’s the 2017 Volkswagen GTI and the 2017 Volkswagen Golf R. And lastly, for someone who just wants a fun hatchback that has left its iconic mark across the world, there’s the 2017 Volkswagen Golf.
